Having been at Canterbury Cars since 1989, it is fair to say that I know the company and many of our clients on an excellent basis. Being Managing Director, my main role is to oversee the daily operations and running of the company of which my job is made easier due to the excellent work my staff undertake. My primary job is to purchase the vehicles for the company which has changed from previously purchasing in Japan to now obtaining from within New Zealand. Having been with the company for so long, some excellent long term contacts have been established within the industry allowing me to purchase a vast array of vehicles directly from franchise holders, lease companies and trade wholesalers. Each week I generally travel either South or to the North Island to obtain the stock we require.
With the introduction of live internet, our stock is updated instantly on our website so please feel free to view this - simply by clicking 'Stock List' on our homepage. The internet has enabled us to sell vehicles all over New Zealand and this, combined with our free Wellington and South Island wide delivery service, is a real bonus for our out of town clients.

For those who don’t know me, I have been in the Motor
Industry for 26 years, starting as a motor mechanic for Staite
Motors in Waimate.
For the last 20 years I have been in
Christchurch. I started my sales career at a major motor group
and was there for 9 years in various roles. I then ran my own
yard for 5 years, and for the last 6 years have been with a
4WD yard.
I do know my way around motor vehicles,
especially 4WD’s, and I know a good one when I see it.

Welcome to Canterbury Cars webpage. As you can see I am also John, but to save any confusion, I'm known as JD.
I have always worked in the motor trade, firstly as a tradesman panelbeater and then for the last 25+ years have been involved in the retail side of the motor trade selling a vast array of vehicles.
For those living in the North Canterbury region, you may possibly recognise me having retailed vehicles in Rangiora for 16 years. Being a Dad of two teenage boys and an ex NZ Shooting Representative, we are all pretty keen on the outdoors, hunting, fishing, 4 wheel driving and all those other blokey things. This gives me a very good insight as to the suitability of the range of vehicles that we here at Canterbury Cars offer for sale.
